Egypt On The Road To ITU Telecom Africa 2008

Telecom Africa is one of the major events that bring together all ICT players to map the future of ICT in Africa. It is also a golden opportunity for Egypt to promote and enhance the conferences tourism. The great success of the previous Telecom Africa events encourage us even more to concert efforts to turn the event into a real success.

To this end, Egypt has established a supreme committee that comprises the major authorities to coordinate efforts. The committee members include representatives from the different concerned ministries and authorities. The Committee meets regularly to address all issues related to the conference chief among are taxes and customs, entrance visas, the host country agreement, security arrangement, emergency requirements, promotion and marketing of the event. Participants will feel the hospitability of Egypt since their very first steps in Egypt.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will facilitate the online registration of participants by allowing the registered person to get an official letter to get his/her visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also examine the possibility of giving free visas for participants from countries suffering political or economic crises and of facilitating the visas of the African youth taking part in the Youth Forum.

The ministry is taking necessary steps to arrange for the reception of the VIPs taking part in the Event. It is worth mentioning in this regard that three departments at the MOFA are working closely in preparation for the Telecom Africa Event.

A special information desk for the conference will be provided in the Cairo Airport. Egypt Air will also have special offers for all visitors and exhibitors of the conference.

The ministry of Finance on its part will support the exhibitors by granting them temporary exemption from taxes for all the exhibition supplies such as the booths, the giveaways and the brochures. The ministry will also make special arrangements at the custom duties area at the airport to facilitate entrance of exhibitors and visitors.

Reaching the venue, the participants will find all facilities needed to enjoy a successful conference. Egypt Air will have a special desk at the CICC to make it easier for the participants to confirm their tickets. A post office will also be available at the CICC to provide necessary mailing services.

Participants will enjoy the unequalled historic places of Egypt through the tourist trips that the ministries of culture and tourism will provide.

Participants will definitely feel secure while moving in the streets of Cairo with the ministry of Interiors working from now to secure all the roads and places that the visitors will go to. Special Limousine Cars and Buses will be available for the transportation of the delegations.  Measures are taken to facilitate the traffic as well the movements of buses.

Special Cards with different categorizing colors will be given to all participants. Emergency health services including doctors, ambulances are also being provided throughout the conference. 

On the level of the Event marketing, special promotion films and advertisements are being made to promote the event. Films and ads will be aired on board of Egypt Air jets as well as in the Egyptian TV. Special ads will also be broadcasted via Egyptian radio channels. Governorates on its part will facilitate the hanging of street billboards and the flags of the participating countries. All Media authorities will work closely together to prepare the best media coverage for the events in all newspapers, TV and Radio channels. The Egyptian Television will broadcast the opening ceremony on Air and will record all other session for purpose of documentation of the Event. The State Information System will also provide informative CDs on Egyptian history and landmarks and it is also preparing for the press center and making necessary coordination with the international correspondents that will work on the coverage of the event.
